Our Vision

Let’s Rise Together.

Intentional and inspired, the River District is inclusive by design, a once-in-a-lifetime boost for our economy, and a singular opportunity to create history and redefine our future while embracing our culture, celebrating our resilience, and reconciling our shared past.

Mission

New Orleans is rising at the River District.

In September 2019 the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center embarked on an ambitious project to transform 40 acres of undeveloped urban riverfront land into a thriving new neighborhood and hub of commerce, trade and culture. This venture would secure the Convention Center’s position as a premier venue for events, conferences and trade shows; promise $508 million in projected new sales taxes over 30 years; create thousands of new construction and permanent jobs; and deliver 450 units of affordable residential housing.

The River District will be a new New Orleans neighborhood: sustainable and integrated with the surrounding areas, offering the ability to work, play and stay on the River. A neighborhood for all, the River District community will include new mixed-use residential and commercial spaces, linking the Warehouse and Lower Garden Districts with the Riverfront and Convention Center. The neighborhood will feature residential condos and apartments, retail space, lodging, restaurants, services and other amenities. #Letsrise #ANeighborhoodForAll and #ValuesNotJustValue

Vision

In the development of the River District, we see a vibrant “New” New Orleans neighborhood, one that showcases our unique environment and culture and is welcoming to all.
